I write about business and legal subjects because too much of the available advice is either unnecessarily complicated or dangerously simple.

Business books often tell us to think bigger, move faster, disrupt the market, and pursue exponential growth. Legal materials frequently take the opposite approach. They qualify every sentence, define every conceivable term, and leave the reader wondering what to do on Monday morning.

Both approaches have their place. Neither is particularly helpful when a business owner is trying to make a decision, manage risk, win a customer, operate a company, or keep a limited liability company in good standing.

That is where I try to write.

My purpose is not merely to explain a subject. It is to make the subject usable.
